My name is Rohan Patel. I am a recent Electrical Engineering graduate of both UC San Diego (MSEE) and UC Santa Barbara (BSEE). During my undergraduate years, I worked in the Paul Hansma Research group participating in a study towards understanding the functions of a 10 micron coating on elasticity and structural integrity of mussel byssal threads which seem to be correlated with their location in the sea.
In the summer of 2006 and 2007, I was an intern at the NVIDIA Corporation. I had a few projects which were mainly focused on the SLI bus, the GPU power electronics as well as the overall interconnects between all of the subsystems. Our team was responsible for the initial bring up of the next generation products which involved a lot of both design and verification.
This past summer, I joined the Volkswagen Electronics Research Laboratory. I worked on a large research project with the ERL, Stanford University, UC Riverside and UC Berkeley to help reduce emissions for “connected” and intelligent vehicles. I got to work on many exciting projects and make a worthwhile contribution in a short amount of time.
For fun I like to play tennis, listen to music, watch sports (Go Sharks, 49ers, and A’s!), and design web systems. The last of these really took off as a hobby when I learned PHP and mySQL. Over the last 6 or so years, I have designed many complex applications for small companies and organizations.
